Obviously, most franchisors are going to be a little biased in their own favor. In this blog article I cover many strong points that compare the Merchants Barter Exchange licensing program to all franchises and biz-ops. http://businessbarterblog.wo

Profile Information

About Me
I'm originally from London, UK, and I have a very varied and interesting background in a number of different industries. I've worked in banking, advertising, marketing and sales predominantly, but had a brief stint in the world of acting ;o) - I'm far from a celebrity, though!

I've lived and owned businesses in the US for over ten years, and now call America my home. Currently I am the majority licensee for Merchants Barter Exchange and have been happily and successfully involved with them for over three years.

I love to connect and network with like-minded "chaps" and "chap-esses", and very much look forward to getting to know many of my fellow FranMarket buddies! I'm very approachable and I don't bite (hard!) lol

Just Some Advantages of an MBE License Over a Standard Franchise

Almost all business experts would agree that – even though the economy is still very bleak with not much but hopes and prayers for a real recovery in sight – now is actually an extremely good time to be considering opening a business. I completely agree that opportunities abound. True entrepreneurs manage to see that ‘silver lining’ in everything, and many of my close friends and associates just don’t buy into the doom and gloom of the recession.

In a deflated economy, such as this, the benefit… Continue

Cost-saving Start-up Tips From our Caveman Ancestors

There are many costs involved with starting any business, whether it's a franchise or an independent venture. Chiropractors, massage therapists, and many other service industries are actually taught to leverage the power of bartering during their start-up phase, but why should it be limited to just them?

Beyond the major expenses of premises and equipment, a start-up business that has an abundance of enthusiasm, but a shortage of new clients, and is often undercapitalized, is smart to barter. W… Continue

10 Most Common Myths About Barter

(Reprinted with permission from my good associate, Tram Holloway)

For those that don't know the term 'barter', it is the oldest and simplest form of commerce known to Man. Bartering is the exchange of goods and/or services between parties without the need for cash. Example: "I'll trade you flooring for roofing." Even though it has existed for thousands of years (most likely since the dawn of Man) and globally governments, large corporations and individuals engage in over $1 trillion of barter… Continue

Can MBE-bartering be an Integral Element of Franchising?

I have a dream job. I'm very fortunate in that fact. I know I'm not alone in being blessed by finally having found something I not only love but also make a very comfortable living at. I hope some people reading this are in the same position. Isn't that one of the reasons we go into business for ourselves? One of the major reasons I love my job is that I'm a people-person and I get to meet and talk with thousands of business owners every year, hear their stories and help them build better busine… Continue
